Konik's critique of the ‘technocentricism’ of postmodernity”

Konik, I. 2007.”Thematising the ugly side of sublime technological development in Sonzero’s Pulse (2006) as an inadvertent critique of the ‘technocentricism’ of postmodernity

Konik refers to the movie Sonzero’s Pulse (2006). From this movie Konik critiques technocenticism of postmodern states, expressing that people cannot escape from the technology they are exposed to on a daily basis. He also states that the world is turning into a capitalist- techno science environment and is seen as a negative effect on the world. Making reference to the movie, he expresses that people are becoming dehumanized and do not have the sense of individuality because it would have been replaced by technology.

Today the world has turned into an ecosystem, which is dehumanized, where people are self, centered, anti-social and unwilling to help one another. Technology has basically replaced and changed the way people interact and communicate. For example; people can seat next to each other in a bus, airplane, taxi or a car, and not talk to each other or interact because they would be focused on their phones and to busy to even notice the person next to them. Technology has diluted social interactivity, causing ignorance and passiveness towards each individual in the society. Therefore people only focus on making money, to purchase gargets or products for them to stay updated with technology. This leads to people focusing and worrying on what they have and not who they really are.
