NANDOS

Nandos
is known for its humorous ad campaigns in South Africa. This brilliant ad was
released in reaction of the “Secrecy Bill” passed by the parliament. This Black
Tuesday ad campaign was against the Protection of State Information Bill. The
ad, like many others was published just after the sentence of Julius Malema.
This Bill was passed to grant the government of South Africa power to gag any proliferation of any information
it deemed sensitive. This has the effect of silencing any questions that may
arise in the media as steep sentences may be passed to anyone in contravention
of the act, thus earning it the nickname "the secrecy bill".
The “Secrecy Bill” ad shows the fine
line between clever and smooth. In the ad creativity is shown through the text
blacked out. The longer text below shows a message to journalists, which reads:
“Dear journalists, if you ever run out of things to write about, you can always
tell people about our flame- grilled, 24 hour marinated, Peri-Peri chicken”.
The humour of this ad falls flat because it’s neither clever nor witty. The Nandos ad is usually designed using its corporate colors, with the text centered in different sizes. The punch lines in their ads have bold fonts and take much space on the poster. In my opinion the Nandos ads work better because they are well executed in a high standard. The viewer understands what is being portrayed as the conclusion being the clue of the ad.

This
is a campagin on the South African National Council, based on Alcoholism and
Drug Dependence. This campaign tackles issues of drinking during pregnancy. The
ad makes the viewer aware of the effects of drinking during pregnancy, because
the intake of alcohol and drugs while pregnant may have an effect on newborn
babies. From the posters below an SANCA logo is placed at the bottom left coner
within the sonar xray of a feotus. The logo design and the image bring attention
of crime which happens in a community.
Save the Rhino: Nothing Will Ever Bring Them Back
Save the Rhino: Nothing Will Ever Bring Them Back
In
this South African campaign of Save
the Rhino: Nothing Will Ever Bring Them Back, addresses the public on the
issue of Rhino poaching, which happens in national parks and game reserves. The
rate at which Rhinos are poached creates a possible extinction of the Rhino
species. In the Nothing Will Ever Bring Them Back campaign, the slogan
and imagery of the artificial Rhino horn strapped onto other animals, creates awareness
to the audience that, idea
of rhino protection and preservation is being promoted, calling people to
support the Save the Rhino foundation.
